Fizzah Rizvi - MSc., MACP, Registered Psychotherapist

My Approach

As humans, we have a fundamental need for expression and recognition. However, this need can sometimes go unmet due to a lack of safe emotional connections, which may occur in any phase of our life.

Trauma, which is a subjective experience, can leave a profound impact on individuals as well on as their relationships. My approach at Mindscape counselling is to provide a supportive space for emotional healing to take place. I focus on delving deeper in understanding the roots and gaining insight into your experiences. Our work together will facilitate you to develop the tools needed to contain current stressors, build strength and resillience, and discover calm in your life.

I draw on parts work, somatic and anti-oppressive approaches, through an attachment lens to focus on the individual or relationship’s needs. I work from a person-centred approach and find humor to be an vital element in my therapeutic practice, both as a therapist and clinical supervisor.

Academic & Clinical Experience

In practice, I have worked with diverse populations to support healing and growth for 5+ years.

My credentials include a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, MSc. in Organizational Psychology and bachelors in Psychology.

I actively work in community-based crisis counselling and mental health support using a client-centred and trauma-informed approach. I have received specialized training in various therapeutic approaches, including those focused on complex trauma and attachment, emotional processing, and suicide intervention.

My expertise encompasses trauma/abuse, substance use, relationship anxiety, challenges associated with personality diagnoses (bipolar, borderline, narcissistic), and difficulties related to emotions and thoughts. I offer a non-pathologizing and safe space for individuals expereincing plurality or altered perceptions. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

“Your sickness is from you, but you do not perceive it and your remedy is within you, but you do not sense it.

You presume you are a small entity, but within you is enfolded the entire Universe.

You are indeed the evident book, by whose alphabet's the hidden becomes manifest. Therefore you have no need to look beyond yourself. What you seek is within you, if only you reflect.”
